House Lifters Northwest is a specialized division of Excavators Northwest, created to focus on one of our most in-demand and complex services: professional house lifting.

Owner Chris Uyyek brings a combination of hands-on industry experience, years of leadership at Excavators Northwest, and a strong background in business management to every project. After running the company for five years, Chris purchased the Excavators Northwest name and brand in 2026. She is passionate about solving complex structural challenges and understands the responsibility that comes with advising homeowners, managing their projects, and safeguarding their investment.
Chris and the House Lifters Northwest team also continue to benefit from the knowledge of Frank Shields, who retired after 35 years as owner and remains with the company as a consultant. His decades of experience in house lifting, excavation, foundations, and complex structural problem-solving provide an invaluable resource when unusual challenges arise.
Our team understands the unique challenges of Seattle’s diverse neighborhoods, including older housing stock, steep slopes, high groundwater, narrow city lots, and strict building codes. We approach every project with safety, thoughtful planning, clear communication, and your long-term peace of mind as our top priorities.

Hi, I’m Chris Uyyek, owner of Excavators Northwest and House Lifters Northwest. I love what we do because every project presents a different challenge — and behind every set of plans is a homeowner trusting us with one of their most valuable assets.
I take that responsibility seriously. My job isn't simply to complete the work; it's to help you understand your options, anticipate challenges, manage the details, and protect your investment throughout the project.
Frank may have retired from ownership, but I’m fortunate to still have his decades of experience available to us as a consultant. Together with our experienced team, we bring practical knowledge, creative problem-solving, and careful planning to even the most challenging projects.
My goal is simple: do the work the right way, communicate honestly, and leave you confident that you chose the right team for your home.

HOW IT WORKS — OUR PROCESS
WHY WE CHOOSE UNIFIED SYSTEMS
In short: House Lifters Northwest uses unified hydraulic lifting to deliver safe, efficient, and precise outcomes—critical for protecting your investment, your home’s structure, and the neighborhood you call home.
Ideal for tight urban lots where side yard space is limited or neighboring homes are close. We work to preserve your property and minimize impact, while keeping your neighbors happy by staying inside the property lines.
Used when clearance is extremely limited or for delicate structures, industrial lifting airbags slide into place and inflate slowly to raise the home with even, gentle pressure. Best for sites where traditional jacks can’t be positioned, such as when there is zero clearance between the floor joists and dirt in the crawlspace.

House lifting is one of the most sustainable construction choices you can make:

House lifting also aligns with Built Green principles, offering a more sustainable alternative to demolition and rebuilds. By lifting instead of replacing your home, you:

It’s the process of temporarily raising your home so we can replace or repair the foundation, add a basement, or protect it from flooding.
Lifting allows better drainage, more daylight, and larger basement windows. Dig-outs preserve the home’s position and can be more discreet for historic exteriors. We help you evaluate both options. No — but we work closely with trusted engineers and permitting specialists who understand the process.
The lift itself only takes a few days, however, the time required to either build new walls under the house at its new elevation, or to do work on the foundation varies based on how much work needs to be done. Replacing a foundation under a house often takes 4 - 6 months to complete.
In some cases, yes — but homeowners need to consider carefully how much disruption they can handle. Many homeowners choose to stay elsewhere for safety and comfort.
Absolutely! Lifting a house instead of demolishing it and starting over can save hundreds of thousands of dollars, and tons of materials. It allows you to re-use the portions of the house that are still structurally sound, while fixing or replacing the parts that need to be altered or upgraded for your new design.
